CTE Culinary - Culinary Fundamentals for the Maritime Steward 1 and 2
During this program, students will learn various food production methods, cooking techniques, and culinary sanitation. All of these are crucial to the successful operation of a galley on any ship.
To teach these concepts, we use the Prostart ® Foundations of Restaurant Management and Culinary Arts curriculum. This curriculum was designed by the National Restaurant Association and is a widely recognized high school curriculum in the culinary arts industry.
Each student will be eligible for the Prostart® Certificate of Achievement after completeing both levels of the culinary arts program here at The Maritime Academy of Toledo and the Servsafe® Foodservice Manager certification in food safety. These certificates are highly recognized credentials in the culinary arts and hospitality industries.
While in the program, students will also take college level courses in culinary arts and hospitality in addition to their high school course load. These courses are taught on-campus at Owens Community College located in Perrysburg, Ohio.
